Your child is begging you for a dog, but which dog to get? There are so many choices it can make your head spin. As you’ve looked around you couldn’t help but notice that there are a lot of doodles, and there are many good reasons why.
A doodle is a cross breed of a poodle with another breed. Doodle breeders will be quick to tell you that a doodle brings the low or non-shedding, hypoallergenic aspects of a poodle and reduces some of the issues with a purebred dog.
Goldendoodles, Irish Doodles, and Labradoodles are particularly good breeds for families with children due to their low aggression, intelligence, and playfulness. Let’s take a look at some reasons why a doodle may be the perfect dog for your family.
They’re Intelligent and Loyal
When you’ve got little ones in the house, it is especially important to consider the temperament of a dog. Goldendoodles are naturally sweet, patient, playful, and intelligent. Labradoodles are loyal, kind, intelligent, and generally a little more active than a Goldendoodle. Irish Doodles are also very sweet and intelligent and can be the most active of the three. All of them are amazing family dogs. While they can’t speak English, their barks and retriever mentality often lead them to being dogs that you can trust to tell you when something is wrong around the house or near your child. They are gentle and absolutely love being loved on. Although it is always important to watch your child and their interaction with any dog as sometimes children can be rough, doodles are very forgiving of small pulls and tugs or a child laying on them. Doodles are also quick learners which can be ideal for an active family life.
Kids and Doodles Love to Play
As a general rule of thumb, a Goldendoodle requires about 20 to 30 minutes of daily exercise. Most adults are able to provide this, but a Goldendoodle will love being around children as they provide more fun and playtime. As doodle owners and a doodle breeder, we can provide countless memories of our own children and families who have adopted our dogs having many happy hours playing with and loving their doodles.
This is why we say we love our doodles, and we know you will too. If we can help you in the process of finding your new family member, please give us a call.
